Custom medical devices: Do they need to be registered?

No. To import a custom medical device, you must obtain from INVIMA a certificate declaring that device does not require a health registration (requires not registration) and further obtain the importing license. If the institution considers that device is not a custom product, a health registration for its commercializatinon is imminent (External orthopedic technology, vision and ocular health and hearing aid custom devices are specifically regulated).
